Tottenham striker Harry Kane will not face any action over his apparent headbutt on Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta.The England captain appeared to put his head towards the Blues defender after the pair clashed during the first half of Spurs’ 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.2

The incident, which stemmed from Kane closing down David Luiz after Spurs had returned possession to Chelsea, was not acted upon by referee Andre Marriner at the time.Marriner’s report from the match was reviewed by the FA on Thursday, and having claimed he saw the incident at the time, no retrospective action will be taken. Kane could have been charged with violent conduct and hit with a three-match ban had retrospective action been taken.But, having been cleared, Kane is now free to play in Saturday’s north London derby with Arsenal at Wembley.2

“I think he’s so competitive on the pitch,” boss Mauricio Pochettino said of Kane. “We were frustrated, we want to win, we show our character.“Things that happen that we don’t know because it’s impossible from outside the pitch to see what is going on inside.
